The Crucified Messiah

Paul challenges the men from Jerusalem who were compelling Gentile Christians to conform to Jewish customs, including circumcision – Galatians 2:15-21. What identifies the people of God and determines membership in His covenant community is Christ, especially the Messiah who has been revealed on the Cross. Jews and Gentiles are justified through Jesus and his death, and nothing else !

We are acquitted before God through the faith of Jesus Christ, and not from the works of the Law – Romans 3:21-26. Having demonstrated that all men violate God’s revealed will, the Apostle Paul concludes that no man or woman is acquitted from the penalty of sin from the works and rituals required by the Law of Moses. Instead, we are declared innocent through the faith or faithfulness of Jesus Christ.

Paul’s references to justification from works have a specific category of works in view, the works required by the Mosaic Law . Sin is the Great Leveler that places everyone in the same predicament: Bondage to sin now, and death and divine wrath later. No one is exempt from the penalty of sin, but God has graciously provided a way to avoid the everlasting effects of our sinful acts.

The reign of Jesus Christ from the Messianic Throne began following his Death, Resurrection, and Exaltation – Psalm 110:1. The New Testament is explicit. God made Jesus of Nazareth Lord and Messiah, and there is no other. His reign began when God exalted Christ following his resurrection. “ God has made this same Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah! ” – (Acts 2:36).

El reinado de Jesucristo desde el Trono Mesiánico comenzó después de su Muerte, Resurrección y Exaltación - Salmo 110:1. El Nuevo Testamento es explícito. Dios hizo a Jesús de Nazaret Señor y Mesías, y no hay otro. Jesus has come in these last days to provide salvation for men, women, and children of all nations, and everlasting life in the age to come . After his resurrection, Jesus declared, “ All authority in heaven and on earth is given to me! Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations .” Christ sent his disciples to announce the salvation accomplished by his death “ to the ends of the Earth .” The promise of the Abrahamic Covenant to bless all nations is now being fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

Jesús ha venido en estos últimos días para proporcionar salvación a hombres, mujeres y niños de todas las naciones, y vida eterna en la era venidera . Después de su resurrección, Jesús declaró: “¡Se me ha dado toda autoridad en el cielo y en la tierra! Por lo tanto, vayan y hagan discípulos de todas las naciones .” Cristo envió a sus discípulos a anunciar la salvación lograda por su muerte “ hasta los confines de la Tierra .” La promesa del Pacto Abrahámico de bendecir a todas las naciones ahora está siendo cumplida por Jesucristo.

Jesús proclamó una nueva realidad política, el Reino de Dios, que se parece poco a los sistemas y regímenes políticos de este mundo . Jesús apareció en Galilea proclamando el Reino de Dios – “ Arrepiéntanse, porque el reino está cerca .” El Reino prometido por Dios estaba llegando a la vida y ministerio de Cristo. Él es el Mesías y Rey de Israel que convoca a todos los hombres a volverse de sus malos caminos y someterse a su señorío mientras exista la oportunidad.

Jesus proclaimed a new political reality, the Kingdom of God, which bears little resemblance to the political systems and regimes of this age . Jesus appeared in Galilee proclaiming the Kingdom of God – “ Repent, for the kingdom is at hand .” The Kingdom promised by God was arriving in Christ’s life and ministry. He is the Messiah and King of Israel who summons all men to turn from their wicked ways and submit to his lordship while the opportunity remains.

La llegada de Jesús será un evento de gran victoria y absoluta finalidad. Ese día incluirá la resurrección y la Nueva Creación . El regreso de Jesús es retratado en el Nuevo Testamento como un evento singular, de gran finalidad. Su “ llegada ” o ‘ Parousía ’ estará acompañada por trastornos celestiales y terrestres, la aparición de la Nueva Creación, la resurrección de los muertos justos, el juicio y castigo de los impíos, “ la reunión de sus elegidos ” y el fin de la Muerte.

La Buena Noticia anunciada por Jesús de Nazaret ofrece salvación y vida a los hombres y mujeres de todas las naciones . Después de su resurrección, Jesús declaró que “ toda autoridad en el cielo y en la tierra me es dada; ¡por tanto, id y haced discípulos a todas las naciones!” Así, envió a sus discípulos a anunciar su señorío y salvación hasta “ los confines de la Tierra .” El mensaje vivificante de Cristo debe ser anunciado a todos los hombres y en cada nación bajo el cielo.

The return of Jesus in great glory will result in the resurrection of the righteous dead, and the end of Death itself - 1 Corinthians 15:24-28. Paul responded to believers who denied the coming resurrection of the righteous by stressing the necessity of resurrection for our salvation and life in the new creation. He pointed to Christ’s past Death and Resurrection as the precedent for and guarantee of our own resurrection.  We will be raised bodily when Jesus arrives from the heavens.

El regreso de Jesús en gran gloria resultará en la resurrección de los muertos justos y el fin de la Muerte misma - 1 Corintios 15:1-57. Pablo respondió a los creyentes que negaban la resurrección venidera de los justos enfatizando cuán necesaria es la resurrección para nuestra salvación y vida en la nueva creación venidera. Señaló la Muerte y Resurrección pasadas de Cristo como el precedente y la garantía de nuestra propia resurrección.  Seremos resucitados corporalmente cuando Jesús llegue de los cielos.

Christ’s Death and Resurrection are foundational and indispensable to the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles . The Apostle Paul discusses the future resurrection of believers in his second letter to Timothy in response to denials of this “ sound teaching .” Faith in the resurrection is central to the doctrine of salvation proclaimed by Jesus and his Apostles. This teaching is reliable. It is based on the historical death and resurrection of Jesus and the eyewitness testimony of the Apostles – (Acts 1:21-22, 2 Timothy 1:13).

La Muerte y Resurrección de Cristo son fundamentales e indispensables para las enseñanzas de Jesús y los Apóstoles . El Apóstol Pablo analiza la futura resurrección de los creyentes en su segunda carta a Timoteo en respuesta a las negaciones de esta “ sana enseñanza .” La fe en la resurrección es fundamental para la doctrina de la salvación proclamada por Jesús y sus Apóstoles. The Sovereignty of Jesus is based on his Death and Resurrection, the immovable foundation of his present reign and the Gospel . The death and exaltation of Jesus are inextricably linked in the Book of Revelation . Its visions unveil the plan to redeem humanity, and God implements it through Christ’s sacrificial death, resurrection, and enthronement.  However, this Jesus is no tyrant. He does not subjugate his enemies through force.

El Nuevo Testamento aplica las promesas mesiánicas de la Biblia Hebrea al reinado actual de Jesús. Él es Cristo el Rey . ¡Cristo es Rey! Desde su ascensión, Jesús ha reinado como Rey. Él está sentado en el Trono mesiánico de David y gobierna desde la diestra de Dios. Debido a su “ obediencia hasta la muerte ”, el hombre del pequeño pueblo de Nazaret se ha convertido en “ Gobernante de los Reyes de la Tierra ” - (Mateo 28: 18-20).

The New Testament applies messianic promises from the Hebrew Bible to the present reign of Jesus. He is Christ the King! Christus Rex – Christ is King! Ever since his ascension, Jesus has reigned as King. He is seated on the Messianic Throne of David and rules from the right hand of God. Because of his “ obedience until death ,” the man from the small village of Nazareth has become “ the Ruler of the Kings of the Earth ” – (Matthew 28:18-20).

Humanity is divided into two and only two groups – the followers of the Lamb and the subjects of the Beast . In the Book of Revelation , every man either “ Tabernacles in Heaven ” or is an “ Inhabitant of the Earth .” The terms are not geographical or spatial. They identify which Master we serve. Men either belong to “ Heaven ” or the “ Earth .” Those who follow the Lamb, “ Tabernacle in Heaven .” The “ Inhabitants of the Earth ” submit to the “ Dragon ” and his “ Beast ,” and therefore await a grim fate.
